Is the Elusive Fourth World Title On for Max Verstappen in 2024?

If you were to tell an F1 fan that Max Verstappen would not score a victory for four race weekends straight, we are pretty sure that they would laugh in their face! But, that is the reality we live in, as the RB20’s pace has fallen off significantly, with both McLaren on Mercedes catching up to Red Bull scoring multiple race victories in the process.
But, is this late surge from the likes of Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, and Oscar Pastri enough to deny Max Verstappen a fourth Word Title? As we head into the next round of the 2024 season at the Dutch Grand Prix, Red Bull looks even slower than ever before, but luckily for Max, he has a 78-point lead over Norris in the standings. Unless a wave of reliability issues starts to hit the Red Bull team out of the left field, Verstappen’s path to a fourth consecutive World Title seems clear, but it sure as hell won’t be as rosy as the past few years.
Since his rise to the top of the F1 food chain back in 2021, Max Verstappen has gained a significant fandom here in Ghana, and from what we’ve heard, these fans are not too keen on the way the RB20 has fallen down the pecking order in performance over the past few race weekends.
All hope is not lost in the Red Bull camp though, as the team promises to bring some upgrades in the upcoming rounds that hopefully restore the team back to their former glory. While the driver’s championship seems to go in the team’s favor, there are some serious doubts over whether McLaren would swoop in and snatch the World Constructor’s Championship right out of their grasp. With Sergio Perez severely underperforming in the other Red Bull, the burden of securing yet another World Constructor’s Championship for the team has fallen on the shoulders of the three-time World Champion Verstappen, which might negatively affect his performances as we approach the latter part of the season.
Looking past this year, the 2025 F1 season is shaping up to be one for the ages. With teams like McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari on the pace alongside Red Bull, don’t be surprised if we continue to see different race winners every other weekend, and for the first time since 2021, a World Driver’s Champion that is not named Max Verstappen!
