Day two of the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix delivered a thrilling mix of dominance and tight competition. Lewis Hamilton, in his second race for Ferrari, stormed to victory in the Sprint Race, showing impressive pace and managing his tires effectively. He led from pole, building a comfortable lead over the chasing pack. Oscar Piastri challenged Max Verstappen for P2, eventually overtaking him in the dying laps, while George Russell held off Charles Leclerc for fourth. Hamilton crossed the finish line 6.889 seconds ahead of Piastri, with Verstappen completing the podium.

Later in the day, qualifying for the main Grand Prix saw Oscar Piastri secure his first career pole position. Q1 began with Piastri setting the initial pace, but Verstappen briefly took the lead. Norris, Tsunoda, and Doohan had lap times deleted due to track limits, and Norris ultimately set the fastest Q1 time, eliminating Gasly, Bearman, Doohan, Bortoleto, and Lawson. In Q2, Norris set a blistering pace yet again, half a second clear of Piastri. Verstappen followed close, while the Ferraris of Hamilton and Leclerc struggled. Antonelli faced technical issues with his steering wheel but managed to get through, and ultimately Ocon, Hulkenberg, Alonso, Stroll, and Sainz were eliminated.

Q3 saw a tense battle for pole position. Verstappen initially led, but Piastri and Norris quickly took over. Piastri set the fastest time, with Russell jumping to second. Norris abandoned his final lap, leaving him third. Hamilton and Leclerc followed, with Hadjar, Antonelli, Tsunoda, and Albon completing the top 10.

Piastri’s pole position and Russell’s strong performance have set the stage for an exciting Grand Prix, so don’t forget to join us tomorrow to find out who comes out on top.
