EVS - Latest Electric Vehicles to Hit Ghana's Roads

It is no secret that we are quite into electric cars here on Supercars.com.GH, and recently we had the golden opportunity to test drive a few of the latest and greatest Chinese EVs that have landed in the country recently.

The event was organized by DriveEVGH at the  Labadi Beach Hotel on the 22nd of September, and we got to experience several examples of the latest crop of EVs to come out of China both before and after the Singapore Grand Prix for a fresh change of pace.

The smallest member of the lot was the Nami Air – a nimble and compact city car with a powerful 95 horsepower motor and 430 kilometers of range that is perfect for zipping around the streets of Ghana. If you like your EV to be a little more roomy, the Xpeng G9 might be the one for you. Powered by a 230 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor, the G9 hits 100 km/h from a standing start in just 3.9 seconds while carrying 7 passengers comfortably.

On this day though, we got to drive these EVs around the hotel premises to see what they had in store. Some key aspects that surprised us about these state-of-the-art EVs were the instant throttle response with zero lag, and the sci-fi-esque whirling noise they make when driving. Oh, and the regenerative braking feature which slows down the car as soon as you take your foot off the gas pedal was a nice surprise as well.

We’ll be diving in depth into all of these EVs and more this month on Supercars.com.GH, so don’t forget to stay in touch!
