This type of security measure is not new in the automotive business. It first appeared in 2019 with the world’s first fingerprint technology installed on the 2019 Santa Fe SUV.
More vehicles like the Tesla model are getting keyless, relying on biometrics to start the engine and even unlock the doors. It is safe to predict that most vehicle manufacturers will soon adopt this technology in the coming future.
Lane Keep Assist is a technology that assists drivers by minimally taking control of the steering wheel and brakes to help center the vehicle on the right lane. When the wheels begin to cross the lines, the lane-keep assistance system kicks in and corrects the situation so that the car remains centered and safe.
This is a safety feature, as its job is to enable safer driving on public roads, reducing the chances of collisions. Most modern cars from popular brands come with this technology or a variant of it, with examples including Honda sensing tech, Ford four-lane keeping system, and the Mercedes Benz keeping assist.
