If you have been following Supercars.GH this January, you already know that we chose the comfortable and stylish Renault Koleos SUV as our Car of the Month. But, have you ever wondered how this challenger from France compares to some of your favorite SUVs? If you are keen on finding the answer, today is your lucky day!
For this comparison, we chose three of the most common SUVs you’ll spot on the highways of Ghana. The Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV, and the Hyundai Santa Fe.
Let’s start by taking a look at how the Koleos compares to its rival from South Korea. One of the most significant differences between these two models is the number of seats they have. Where the Koleos can comfortably seat up to five passengers, the Santa Fe one-ups it by including a third row of seats, allowing it to carry two more people.
Another difference between the two models can be found in their powerplants. As you might already know, the Renault Koleos only comes with a choice of two diesel powerplants. However, the Hyundai Santa Fe lacks a diesel option entirely. Instead, it offers two gasoline-powered models, along with a plug-in-hybrid.
Next, let’s focus on another familiar sight on the roads of Ghana, the Toyota RAV4. It only takes one glance at these SUVs to recognize their most obvious difference. Where the Koleos have a more sophisticated exterior, Toyota has taken a more utilitarian design approach with the RAV4.
The Toyota also lacks a diesel powertrain option, but once again makes up for it with the inclusion of both a hybrid and plug-in hybrid. On the other hand, the Renault Koleos has a more feature-rich interior and carries a slightly cheaper MSRP.
The ever-popular Honda CRV is the final SUV we will be comparing with the Renault Koleos. For 2023, the CRV has been redesigned, putting it on par with the Koleos in terms of design. However, it is a different story when we take a peak into the interior. The Koleos has a more up-market look, thanks in part to the large 8.7-inch display in the middle. In contrast, CRV owners have to make do with a smaller 7.0-inch screen and a cabin that is not as comfortable.
If you were in the market for one of the above-mentioned SUVs, you might want to rethink your decision and take a look at the Koleos instead. The comfort and features of the Renault Koleos even make it a threat to vehicles like the Toyota Land Cruiser, which is several times its price. Overall, we can definitively say that the Renault Koleos is one of the best value-for-money vehicles in its segment.
