In the past, owning a Porsche was a dream that only a lucky few could achieve. However, that all changed with the Cayenne SUV. However, now there is an even more accessible Porsche in the shape of the Macan. This SUV is one of the most affordable Porsche models, and we’ll tell you all about it right here.
The baby Porsche comes with a variety of engine choices to suit all customers. Starting off the range is a turbocharged four-cylinder making 245 horsepower. For its size, this engine is surprisingly quick, as it launches to 60 mph in just 5.0 seconds. However, for the speed freaks among our readers, there are two far more powerful options.
First up is the Macan S, which can complete the 0 – 60 run in just 3.8 seconds. Powering this version is a 2.9-liter V6 engine. The model that sits on top of the mountain is the Macan GTS. It shares the same V6 as the S, but this mini-rocketship has 434 horsepower under the hood. As a result, it bolts to 60 mph in a supercar-like 3.5 seconds. This makes it quicker than rivals like the Jaguar F-Pace S and the Audi SQ5. The speed is complemented by a smooth ride and accurate steering.
Being an SUV, you would expect the Macan to deliver in this department and it does indeed. The cargo area can fit 17.2 cubic feet of luggage, and you can fit even more with the rear seats folded. But, the other interior items leave much to be desired. The rear seats are uncomfortable, and luxurious leather seats will set you back an additional $2230.
Luckily, the Macan comes with a segment-leading infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The interior also has several USB ports and power outlets that will come in handy when you have to charge your devices on the go.
As with every Porsche, this sports SUV comes with an abundance of driver aids, including Lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic braking.
If fuel economy is a priority, you’ll surely be impressed with the Macan. Unsurprisingly, the base model powered by the four-cylinder engine is the most efficient out of the bunch. It gets 19 mpg around the city and 25 mpg on the highway, the Macan S gets 17 mpg around city streets and 23 mpg on the highway. Finally, the Macan GTS gets the same mileage around the city as the S, but its highway rating is slightly worse at 22 mpg.
So, there you have it. A deep dive into what we consider to be the best small luxury SUV for Ghanaian streets and if you are interested in knowing more about the Macan, be sure to check out our website and social media pages!
