But, to say that their plan backfired would be a massive understatement. McLaren fell to the back of the pack, and finally, after a decade of struggle, they are finally leading the Formula 1 World Constructor\u2019s Championship for the first time in ages.<\/p><p>The 2024 season has been a remarkable turnaround for the Woking-based team in Papaya. After years of underperforming, the team has not only returned to competitiveness but has also managed to tame the dominant Red Bull to take the lead in the Constructors&#8217; Championship, an achievement which is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and strategic brilliance of the entire team over the past few years.<\/p><p>The foundation for McLaren&#8217;s resurgence was laid in the 2023 season when the team showed promising pace towards the end of the year. This momentum carried over into the 2024 season, where McLaren consistently delivered strong performances from the get-go. Both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been instrumental in their success, consistently securing podium finishes and contributing valuable points to the championship standings, not to mention both of them going on to achieve their maiden career victories in Formula 1. Lando currently sits 2nd in the Driver\u2019s Championship with three victories to his name, with Oscar not far behind with two wins of his own.<\/p>https:\/\/youtu.be\/L738fzgNbrM<p>Another key factor in McLaren&#8217;s turnaround of fortunes has been their ability to capitalize on opportunities. The team has made some great strategic calls throughout the season and that, coupled with the drivers&#8217; skill and picture-perfect execution, has allowed them to maximize their points and outsmart rivals like Mercedes and Ferrari. Moreover, McLaren&#8217;s consistent introduction of upgrades to their car, including a new front wing, an innovative rear wing that yielded better aerodynamics, suspension upgrades, and trick brake ducts, has further enhanced the competitiveness of the MCL36<\/p><p>While Red Bull remains a formidable opponent and with Max Verstappen still leading the Driver\u2019s Championship, McLaren still has a long way to go. But, the British team led by Zack Brown has demonstrated that they have the pace, the strategy, and the drivers to challenge for championships once again. The team&#8217;s resurgence pays testament to their resilience, determination, and ability to learn from past mistakes.
