The Hive is swarming. Dodge has unveiled a brand new 2023 Dodge Hornet. A modern compact utility vehicle with the distinct powertrain of a muscle car, the Dodge Hornet promises lightning quickness and unique Dodge performance specifications.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t
What are the specs of the Dodge Hornet?<\/h2>\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t
The Dodge Hornet has a distinctive Dodge outlook. With strong, smooth lines and bold tunnels on the hood, the CUV has performance in its DNA. The squinting headlights and wide horizontal brow of the upper grill reenact the powerful muscle look in what is one of the fastest compact utility vehicles on the market. The 2023 Dodge Hornet was designed to turn heads. At its rear, the new Hornet features a rear-wide tail light with a distinctive Rhombi logo in the centre. Exhaust fumes leak through dual pipes at the bottom behind alloy rims. Drivers benefit from a range of driver assist technology in accordance with industry standards and the Hornet also offers inbuilt brake assist, and cyclist and pedestrian detection sensors.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The infotainment screen tilts forward to put all controls within easy reach of the driver. Depending on the trim, you can engage lane centering and adaptive cruise control for comfort and safety.\u00a0 Beneath the hood, the Dodge Hornet offers two distinct powertrains.<\/p>\n
Dodge Hornet GT:<\/b><\/h3>\n
This entry-level Dodge Hornet GT comes with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Hurricane4 engine, catching 60mph in 6.5s.\u00a0 A 9-speed automatic transmission system propels its low-emission 265-horsepower. Drivers can choose an all-wheel drive option.<\/p>\n
Dodge Hornet R\/T PHEV:<\/b><\/h3>\n
The 2023 Dodge Hornet R\/T plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model is the first electric-powered performance vehicle from the Stellantis company. The hybrid features a turbocharged 1.3-litre 4-cylinder aluminum engine paired with an electric motor to produce 285 horsepower. <\/p>\n
The Dodge Hornet road and track (R\/T) can hit 60 mph a fraction sooner than the GT. With an additional burst of 25HP activated via a PowerShot mode, the Hornet adds extra sting to an already powerful engine.\u00a0 After a two-and-half-hour charge, the hybrid\u2019s 15.5kWh battery pack will keep you going for at least 30 miles. A regenerative braking system stores kinetic energy to replenish battery levels and keep the Dodge on the move.<\/p>\n
The electric engine provides drivers with three driving modes:<\/p>\n

Electric mode: this provides a zero-emissions all-electric drive that switches to hybrid once the battery is down.<\/li>\n
Hybrid mode: combines e-motor and conventional engine to optimize fuel consumption.<\/li>\n
E-save mode: this prioritizes conventional engine combustion to conserve battery life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\n\t\t\t
What was the First Hornet?<\/h2>\t\t\n\t\t
The very first true Hornet was the Hudson Hornet released in the 1940s. Chrysler (Now Stellantis North America) inherited the name after it acquired AMC (American Motors Corporation). AMC later produced a series of station wagons, sedans, and coupe varieties between 1969 and 1977.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t
Dodge (under Chrysler) teased its Hornet concept car in 2006 to be launched four years later as part of a drive into the European market. The 2009 financial crisis cut those dreams short, however. The all-new 2023 Dodge Hornet is available from the fourth quarter of 2022. Representing a rebadge of the Alfa Romeo Tonale released earlier in 2022, this represents the first successful attempt by Dodge to bring a Hornet to life.<\/p>\n
