Lewis Hamilton got the dream start to his Ferrari career by storming off to victory from pole position, dominating the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix Sprint Race. Hamilton built a commanding lead, managing tire graining to secure his first win with Ferrari. The race started with Hamilton maintaining his lead, while Piastri challenged Verstappen. Norris, starting poorly, dropped to ninth.

Early laps saw Russell and Tsunoda gain positions, while Hamilton extended his lead. Verstappen faced pressure from Piastri, while his teammate Lawson's aggressive driving dropped him to the back. Norris struggled with tire issues and was unable to pass Stroll. By lap 15, Piastri overtook Verstappen for second, but Hamilton's lead was too significant to overcome. A late battle between Russell and Leclerc for fourth place ended with Russell holding his position. Hamilton crossed the line 6.889s ahead of Piastri, with Verstappen finishing third.

Oscar Piastri bounced back from his P2 performance in the sprint race to score the first pole position in his F1 career, leading the thrilling qualifying session for the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix. Q1 began with drivers on soft tires, and Piastri initially set the pace. Verstappen soon topped the timesheets, but Norris, Tsunoda, and Doohan had lap times deleted for exceeding track limits. The Racing Bulls showed strong pace, while Leclerc struggled. Norris ultimately set the fastest Q1 time, eliminating Gasly, Bearman, Doohan, Bortoleto, and Lawson.

Q2 saw Norris set a blistering pace, half a second clear of Piastri. Verstappen followed, with the Ferraris of Hamilton and Leclerc further down. Antonelli faced steering wheel issues while Norris and Verstappen watched from the pits as others improved. Ocon, Hulkenberg, Alonso, Stroll, and Sainz were eliminated.

Q3 was a tense battle for pole. Verstappen initially led, but Piastri and Norris quickly took over. Piastri set the fastest time, with Russell jumping to second. Norris abandoned his final lap, leaving him third. Hamilton and Leclerc followed, with Hadjar, Antonelli, Tsunoda, and Albon completing the top 10.
